We are glad to invite you to a great training session organised by IH Bucharest – Now I know my ABCs!

You will have the opportunity to attend two separate presentations held by Alex Tilbury and Teodora Manole.

Born in London, Alex worked as a teacher and teacher trainer in Germany, the UK, India, Poland, the Czech Republic, South Africa and Romania, he is a reviewer for “Modern English Teacher” and the co-author of “English Unlimited”, a general English coursebook for adults, published by Cambridge University Press. Alex is also an inspector for IH World Organisation, making sure that IH schools all over the world comply with the quality standards and conduct code of IH.

At IH Bucharest, Alex is in charge of maintaining and developing high teaching standards by organising intensive training sessions and workshops for the teachers, as well as by conducting formal observations of both in-house and in-company classes.

At Cărturești he will talk about the importance and advantages of CELTA with IH Bucharest.

Teodora Manole is a Senior Language Trainer and Mentor and has been working for IH Bucharest since 2010. Among her qualifications are the IH Certificate in Teaching Languages, the IH Certificate in Teaching Young Learners and Teenagers, the IH Teacher Training Certificate, as well as Delta Modules 1 and 2. As well as teaching learners of all ages and levels, she also provides mentoring and support for newer teachers and regularly delivers training sessions and courses on a wide range of topics. At the moment, Teodora is working towards obtaining her Delta Module 3 certificate. She is passionate about learning new things, and her interests include non-formal education, playing board games and improving her German.

    The session

“There is a quantum leap between acquiring the ability to speak and understand a language and learning to read and write it.” – Alan Maley

This session is aimed at helping teachers to bridge this skill gap and to develop children’s early second language literacy. We are going to look at activities designed to gradually improve very young learners’ reading and writing skills, from developing fine motor skills to the ability to recognise and subsequently produce letters, words and even short sentences. The target age range is 5-7 in most of our teaching contexts, with the possibility of extending the upper age limit in cases where the learners’ first language does not use Latin script.

    See you all there!

For enrolments please send us an email at celta@ih.ro.
