What is CELTA

CELTA stands for “Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages”. It is the original certificate course in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) or teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL), and it has been running for four decades. It is highly respected and recognized globally, with 7 out of 10 employers worldwide asking applicants to have it.

Cambridge Assessment English

Course Content (120 hours)

1) Input on

learners and teachers, and the teaching and learning context
language analysis and awareness
language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing
planning and resources for different teaching contexts
developing teaching skills and professionalism

2) Teaching practice

observed and assessed
with real-life adult learners

3) Written assignments

four of 750-1,000 words each

Length & Format

full-time: 4 weeks face to face / 5 weeks online
part-time: 10/11 weeks online

Assessment & Certification

You will be assessed by your course tutors based on your overall teaching practice performance and your written assignments.

There are four possible grades:

pass A
pass B
pass
fail

The Certificate is issued by Cambridge English usually up to 8 weeks after the completion of the course, and it states your name, grade, the centre where you took the course and the date of the award.
