Do I have to hold the CELTA to be eligible for this course?

Not necessarily. However, in this case, it is strongly recommended that you have previous experience with teaching young learners.

Absolutely! Besides the standard instruction you receive during the input sessions, you also benefit from guidance in your lesson planning and material design, as well as your preparation of the written assignments. Moreover, you have at least one tutorial (one-to-one meeting with the tutor) during the course.

What’s the teaching practice like on this course?

You will teach a total of four classes to real-life students from two age groups, at two different levels. You benefit from guided lesson planning before the classes, and you receive useful feedback for each lesson, from your tutors and peers.

What participants say about the IHCYLT at IH Bucharest

Practical, engaging input sessions

“I really appreciated how practical the input sessions were. The theory was never just theory – everything was presented through activities that we could later use in class. For example, during the reading input, we actually experienced different techniques as learners first, which made everything much clearer and more memorable.”
Miruna M.

“The pace of the course felt realistic and well-balanced. The requirements were demanding, but achievable, and all the sessions felt relevant to real classroom teaching. I left each day feeling that I had learned something concrete I could apply immediately.”
Corina F.

“What I liked most was that the sessions were interactive and communicative. Even when revisiting concepts I already knew, I discovered new ways of approaching them with young learners and teens.”
Alexandra D.

Detailed feedback that truly helps you grow

“The feedback on assignments was one of the strongest parts of the course for me. It was very detailed and specific, not just general comments. I always knew exactly what I needed to improve and how to do it better in my next lesson.”
Andrei P.

“Every piece of feedback felt constructive and supportive. It helped me become more aware of how I plan lessons, how I give instructions, and even how I express myself as a teacher. I could clearly see progress from one teaching practice to the next.”
Roxana I.

“I received constant support throughout the teaching practice stages – from assisted lesson planning, to post-lesson discussions and feedback on self-evaluation. This kind of guidance is something I hadn’t experienced before in my teaching journey.”
Ioana C.

Supportive tutors and a positive learning environment

“The tutor was incredibly patient and always ready to clarify anything that wasn’t clear. I never felt uncomfortable asking questions, and the explanations were always calm, clear, and encouraging.”
Bianca T.

“I felt supported at every step of the course. The tutor’s professionalism and warmth created a safe learning environment where it was OK to make mistakes and learn from them.”
Corina S.

“The teaching style was engaging and human. I really felt seen and supported as a trainee, not judged. This made a huge difference in my confidence, especially during teaching practice.”
Mircea L.

Overall experience

“Taking the IHCYLT was a very good choice for me. The course helped me grow both professionally and personally as a teacher of young learners and teens.”
Elena M.

“I had an amazing experience on this course and I would definitely recommend it to colleagues who want structured training, clear feedback, and real support.”
