What is DELTA

DELTA stands for Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, awarded by Cambridge English Language Assessment. It is a level-7 qualification in the British system, equivalent to a post-graduate/Master’s degree, and it is highly valued by employers all over the world.

DELTA course content

DELTA involves a blend of theory and practice and is made up of 3 Modules:

Module 1: Understanding Language, Methodology and Resources for Teaching

Module 2: Developing Professional Practice

Module 3

Option 1: Extending Practice and ELT Specialism

Option 2: English Language Teaching Management

The three modules can be taken at any time, in any order,

and there is no time limit to complete all three modules.

Format & Length

Module 1: online, 10 weeks

Module 2: online/face to face, full time (8 weeks)/part time (18 weeks)

Module 3: online, 10 weeks

Assessment & Certification

Each DELTA Module is assessed separately:

Module 1 – based on a written examination

Module 2 – based on a portfolio of coursework and lesson observations

Module 3 – based on a written assignment

For each Module that you complete you will receive a Certificate. The Diploma is awarded on successful completion of all three Modules.

There are four possible grades:

– Pass with Distinction

– Pass with Merit

– Pass

– Fail
