About CELTA

CELTA stands for “Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults”. It is the original certificate course in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) or teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL), and it has been running for four decades. It is highly respected and recognized globally, with 7 out of 10 employers worldwide asking applicants to have it.

Entry requirements

  In principle, in order to be admitted on a Delta course, you need to

  • be at least 18 years old
  • have a CEFR level of high C1 or above
  • hold a CELTA or another TEFL initial qualification
  • have at least two years of post-initial qualification experience teaching English as a foreign language

 

For your information, as part of the DELTA application pack you will also need to complete a pre-interview task and provide copies of your CV, your qualifications and references. Once your application is reviewed by a Delta tutor, you’ll be contacted for an interview which will be carried out either face-to-face or over the phone/Skype.
