IHCYLT overview

IHCYLT stands for International House Certificate in Teaching Young Learners and Teenagers, and it is the equivalent of Cambridge University’s CELTYL (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Young Learners).
IHCYLT represents the essential qualification for post-CELTA/IHC teachers of English who want to teach that language to children and teenagers. It is a highly valuable qualification in a market for teaching English to YLs which has been growing rapidly over the last 20 years and is set to keep expanding.
The IHCYLT course consists of methodological input, observed teaching practice and written assignments. The trainees’ final portfolios are moderated by the IHWO Assessment Unit and the Cambridge English Language Assessment. The grading of the course is Fail, Pass or Distinction. The certificate you receive on successful completion of the course has the Cambridge English Language Assessment logo on it.
English Kids Academy, which is International House Bucharest’s unit in charge of teaching English to young learners, is the only language centre in Romania authorised by Cambridge University to run the IHCYLT course for teachers of English to children.
