An IHCYLT course typically comprises:

30 hours of input sessions covering areas like

Child Development

Lesson Planning for YLs

Classroom Management

Accuracy and Correction Techniques

Clarifying and Practising Language

Language 1 in the Classroom

Teaching Very Young Learners

Teaching Adolescents

Material Design and Selection / Mixed Abilities

2 written assignments (one on teaching materials, the other one a self-reflection task)
3 hours of observed teaching practice (4 lessons of 45 minutes each)
6 hours of classroom observation (of peer and experienced teachers)
at least 7 portfolio tasks
Course content
As part of the 100 contact hours making up the course, trainees also receive tutorial support and permanent feedback from tutors and peers.


Last but not least, around 50 hours should be dedicated by trainees to additional coursework such as mandatory readings, research, assignment writing and lesson preparation.
